Sunday night a first year teacher at Anderson County High School and her fiancé were injured in an accident on I-35, north of Ottawa. According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, the truck 26 year old Ryan Ellis of Olathe, left the roadway, struck a bridge and rolled. He and his fiancé, 25 year old Elizabeth Dyer of Ottawa were taken to Overland Park Regional Hospital for treatment of injuries. Both remain in the hospital today. Ryan’s aunt, Melissa Schwartz, says the only thing the two remember is something entered the road, they hit it and things are a blur from there:

Schwartz says Elizabeth is looking forward to getting back to her new job in the Anderson County School, but knows she has a way to go. The two recently purchased the old Taylor Surveying Building in Downtown Ottawa and are renovating the apartment on the top floor and were living there. Obviously the couple is in need of help. A Go Fund Me page has been set up to help. If you would like to help, search “Recovery for Ryan and Elizabeth” on Go Fund Me. Schwartz says the goal is to help with medical expenses, including dental care for Ryan as he lost several teeth in the accident. There is also a need of other items.
