An accident in Anderson County last night fatally injured a Garnett man. Just before 8:00 last night, a vehicle driven by 35 year old Derek Stanke of Williamsburg, slowed to a stop to make a left turn at the intersection of U.S. 59 and 235th Road, also known as Scipio Road, when he was rear ended by a vehicle driven by 79 year old Lyle “Butch” Rockers of Garnett. Rockers was killed in the crash that closed the highway for about two hours as law enforcement worked the scene.
Stanke suffered only minor injuries in the accident.
