Last week, a new memorial was dedicated in Washington, D.C.. It honors the great legacy of a great Kansan, Dwight Eisenhower. It is situated near the Smithsonian’s Air and Space Museum and features three bronze sculptures of Eisenhower that represent important phases of his life: his boyhood in Abilene, his time as the Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Forces during World War II and, his time as the 34th President of the United States. There is talk of a replica of the memorial being placed in Abilene at the Eisenhower museum.
