USD 287, West Franklin School announced that a student and staff member at West Franklin Middle School and High School have tested positive for COVID. In a letter to patrons yesterday, Superintendent Jerry Turner says neither of the individuals have been in the buildings since Wednesday, so their normal cleaning procedures were carried out, including further disinfecting over the weekend. Turner says they have been in close contact with the Franklin County Health Department and will take all necessary steps to protect the health of students and staff. Neither of the individuals will return to school until given approval by the Health Department.
Turner says with the onset of flu season, it is vitally important that parents monitor their children’s health closely and if they have any symptoms, not to send the kids to school and notify their doctor or the Health Department. Turner says the District will provide updates as more information becomes available.
