Ottawa City Planning Officials are having to confront what a lot of other cities are now facing–the demand for tiny homes. Sarah Anzicek of the Ottawa Community Development Department says when drawing up regulations for tiny homes in the local area, the need for uniformity of appearance needs to be addressed:

Anzicek says a tiny home is defined as “residential structure under 400 square feet”. She plans to draw up some proposed Tiny Home Regulations that she will present to the Ottawa Planning Commission. She says the inquiries about tiny homes make it necessary for the City to start developing guidelines for people who want to bring such a structure into town.
