The Franklin County Jail is bursting at the seams. Sheriff Jeff Richards reported to the Franklin County Commission that they are so full they are having to house some inmates at other jails around the area:
The jail has been full for quite some time. Richards says he isn’t sure why, but thinks one reason is that a lot of people just can’t afford to bond out. Recent studies have shown that some people are choosing to say in jail to simply save money and not have to worry about paying for housing and health care on the outside.
