Yesterday morning about 9:15, Ottawa Police responded to multiple 911 calls of someone discharging a firearm in front of the Courthouse Square Apartments at 3rd and Main in downtown Ottawa. Upon arrival, officers found a 71 year old man on the sidewalk, dead, from an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound. Officers quickly secured the scene, shut down access in and out of the apartment building. After further investigation, it was determined no one else was injured in the incident and there was no threat to anyone else. In a media release, Ottawa Police say the man’s next of kin have been notified and the man’s name will not be released.
