The COVID pandemic caused major economic problems nationwide as many states shut down to try to mitigate the spread of the virus. As states began to open, the Federal Government issued a series of programs to help small businesses survive the losses. One of those was the Payroll Protection Program, or PPE, which provided business a way to go through local banks for loans. Franklin County Development Council Executive Director, Paul Bean, says our local banks really stepped up:
