The COVID pandemic has led to a huge jump in mental health issues across the Nation as the economy, schools being out, job loss and just living life, has put Americans under a great amount of stress. The same is true locally. There are two barriers that keep some people from seeking the help they need. First, the stigma mental health issues have in the world, which Elizabeth Layton Center Director, Leslie Bjork, says have become less of an issue. The other barrier, affordability.
