A dispatcher for the Franklin County Communications Center has received the Telecommunicator of the Year Award for her work in accurtely guiding emergency personnel to save a victim in a fire. Janea Fleming was working in April 2019 when a call came in on a house fire. Emily Papa of the Kansas Chapter of the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials presented an award during the Franklin County Commission Meeting.
The victim was rescued and eventually recovered. Fleming will receive a $250.00 Visa gift card and other prizes. A more formal In-Person reception will be sponsored when conditions allow.
