Fall is one of the most dangerous times to be on the road. The annual deer “rut”, or mating season, has begun. More and more deer/vehicle accidents are reported everyday. So far in October, Franklin County has recorded 42 such accidents and this isn’t even the peak month. Under-Sheriff, Rick Geist, says drivers need to be very aware, both in town and outside of town and keep their eyes on the sides of the road:

The State reported 10,603 total crashes this past year. Eight people died in deer related accidents, another 556 injured. Franklin County reported 113 last year, with one death and 12 injuries. The County has seen 40 such accidents so far in October alone.
