The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has issued a Boil Water Advisory for the city of Blue Mound in Linn County. The Advisory went into effect yesterday, due to a line break, which resulted in a loss of water pressure. Loss of pressure could lead to the loss of chlorine residuals and bacterial contamination.
Residents are asked to flush their water lines until they run clear, boil water for one minute before drinking or food preparation and not use ice from automatic ice dispensers. Also, while water for bathing generally does not have to be boiled, take caution to make sure young children don’t ingest the water.
Samples of the water have been taken and are being tested. The boil advisory will remain in effect until the order is rescinded by the KDHE.
