Starting probably the first of the new year, Ottawa Electric customers are likely to see a 10% jump in their electric rates. During their Ottawa City Commission Study Session, City Attorney Blaine Finch explained how last year’s rate hike was actually just a first step:
Finch says unless the City Commission changes something, they don’t have to take any action this year, but instead, just allow step two of an already existing resolution take effect. City Officials says the 9% increase in 2019 has helped improve the Electric Fund’s Balance Sheets, but another increase is needed to get the Fund to where it should be, financially.
