Nearly a decade ago, the Ottawa Police Department received a Grant from the North East Kansas Homeland Security Council to purchase a Response Vehicle and Tactical Equipment to bring Ottawa’s Star Team up to a Level 3 Swat Team. This allowed them to respond to disasters in north east Kansas. They were one of only three teams designated for the Grant. Ottawa Police Chief Adam Weingartner says a new Grant expands on that, with new masks:
The Grant totaled nearly $19,000. So far this year alone, including Spark Money, the Ottawa Police Department has received over $352,000 to support their efforts to keep Ottawa safe.
