With USD 365 moving to Online Learning the next couple weeks due to COVID cases at the Junior and Senior High, the question has come up about Ottawa Schools. Ottawa has had relatively few cases of covid in the schools, so far. However, some parents are concerned. USD 290 Superintendent, Dr. Ryan Cobbs says the Kansas Education Department has deemed school safer than being at home and there are some reasons behind that:
He adds that County Health Officer, Dr. Bud Ransom and Interim Health Director, Nick Robbins, agree that the schools are not creating the environment that is spreading the virus. He did say that the possibility of the District taking a break from In Person Schooling is still on the table, if safety warrants it.
