An assault suspect is behind bars today in Osage County after leading Sheriff Deputies on a pursuit, both on the road and on foot. About 12:30 yesterday morning, the assault was reported and the suspect took off. He was spotted on U.S. 75 and a Deputy attempted a stop. The suspect crashed into a wooded area on 205th Street and he fled on foot. Thermal Imaging Units were brought in, as well as a Kansas Highway Patrol Canine Unit. A short time later, Deputies located the suspect in a barn north of the crash site. The suspect, identified as 25 year old Teron Jones of Topeka, was transported by Osage County EMS to an area hospital for treatment of injuries he received while running through the wooded area. After he was discharged from the hospital, he was transported to the Osage County Jail on suspicion of fleeing or Attempting to Elude A Police Officer and a Miami County Warrant.
The case is being forwarded to the Osage County Attorney’s Office for formal charges.
