A tragic accident last night in Wellsville claimed the life of a man. A 911 call came in at 11:10 indicating that a train had struck a pedestrian on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Tracks near 8th and Main Streets in Wellsville. Several agencies responded to the scene and once there, found a man near the railroad track deceased. At this time a positive identification has not been made and authorities have not been able to determine what the person was doing on the railroad tracks. The investigation is still ongoing by the Wellsville Police Department and they are working on identifying the person.
Regular train traffic has resumed along the track as of this morning, after being stopped for several hours during the initial investigation.
