The Kansas Department of Agriculture will host an informational Webinar a week from today at 10:00 in the morning to offer an update on the management practices used in Kansas to control feral swine. The Webinar will feature a presentation from the U. S. Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service Wildlife Services Program. They work in collaboration with Kansas AG Department to help monitor, control and eradicate feral swine in Kansas. According to Frontier District Agent, Darren Hibdon, feral swine cause crop damage in this area every year and it got bad enough about five years ago that an eradication hunt was held by the Department of AG. This webinar will be hosted by Dr. Justin Smith, Animal Health Commissioner and will feature presentations from several USDA representatives including the head of Field Operations in Kansas, along with a Disease Epidemiologist.
