An anonymous donor has come through in a big way for Freedom Park in Ottawa. The Park will be relocated from along Poplar northwest of the Don Woodward Center. Ottawa Community Development Director, Wendy Lee, says a gift of $40,000 will give the Park not only some serious upgrades, but also move it to high ground, just east of the Woodward Center:
The Goppert Foundation has generously donated a matching $40,000 and a donation of $5,000 from the Winter Foundation; plus, Ottawa was named as a Kansas Recreation and Parks Association State Initiative “Play On” National Demonstration site, providing equipment at half price, means the people have a new park at not cost to the City of Ottawa, plus a half court basketball court will be installed at Walton Park.
