An Ottawa man was sent to a Kansas City Hospital after a plane crash near the Ottawa Municipal Airport early yesterday afternoon. Sixty six year old Wade Mace of Ottawa was taxiing a Swift Gc 18, westbound on Rock Creek Road, attempting to get in the air. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the plane left the roadway, veered to the northwest, losing power and crashed into an open field on the northeast corner of the intersection of Montana and Rock Creek Road. the crash occurred about 12:40. Mace was transported to Overland Park Regional Medical Center. No other details are available at this time.
