A fire yesterday afternoon displaced one man and injured a dog in the building. The Ottawa Fire Department responded to a structure fire call at about 3:30 yesterday afternoon at 907 South Ash Street. Upon arrival, crews found flames coming from the rear of the structure, a two story apartment building. Firefighters were able to enter the building and extinguish the fire.

Firefighters did find a dog in the building suffering from heavy smoke inhalation and unconscious. they brought the dog to the front yard, where, after some very tense moments and with the efforts of Ottawa EMS and others, they were able to resuscitate the dog.

The cause of the fire has not been confirmed and a damage report is not yet available.
