There has been a lot of talk about the proposed increase in electric rates in Ottawa recently. Many people may not realize where Ottawa gets its electricity. We can generate some of our own, but for the most part, it is brought in from outside sources, but, in what form? Utilities Director Dennis Tharp says Ottawa has a fairly diverse Electric Portfolio:
He adds they also have a little bit of hydroelectric, gas and still a bit of coal energy; however, coal usage has been reduced greatly.
