A lot of comparisons have been drawn between the Spanish Fly pandemic of about 100 years ago and the current COVID 19 pandemic, but one thing is for sure, as bad as this current pandemic is, at least most victims have a fighting chance. Dr. Jeremy Brown is with the National Institutes of Health and he was interviewed recently on the CBS Sunday Morning Program and he says we know so much more about medicine today:

The 1918 flu pandemic killed over 600,000 Americans, and around 50 million people world wide.
