An incident between a student and a substitute teacher in the Wellsville USD 289 School District was reported by school administration earlier this week, has led to the arrest of that substitute teacher, identified as Kansas Representative Mark Samsel. An investigation was conducted by the Wellsville Police Department and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and, at the conclusion of that investigation yesterday, Mr. Samsel was booked into the Franklin County Adult Detention Center on charges of Misdemeanor Battery Involving a Student. He has since been released on Bond.

No further details on the incident that led to the charges was released by the Sheriff’s Department. USD 289 Superintendent Ryan Bradbury says he is aware of the situation and a letter was sent to parents yesterday regarding the incident.
