One nomination for Volunteer of the Year in the Garnett area Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards is Mike Burns. He serves on Community Boards like East Kansas Agri Energy, Anderson County Hospital Foundation, he is a Past Chamber Board Member, Garnett Rotary member, on the USD 365 Facilities Committee, Past Deacon of the First Christian Church, on the Garnett Steering Committee and much more. He is also an essential part of the Rotary Scholarship Selection Committee, he is the founder of the Charity Fireworks and has coached youth soccer, basketball and soccer. The person who nominated him says Mike gives back every day and the Community benefits.

One business up for Business of the Year is Garnett Flowers and Gifts. Established in 1933 as the Garnett greenhouse, owner Erin Miller is only the fourth person to own the business since 1933. They offer a variety of floral arrangements i fresh and sild flowers as well as gifts and offer tuxedo rentals. They also support the local community and offer unique services like graveside delivery. They have created a beautiful shop and continue to innovate and thrive in the Garnett business community.

The awards will be announced at a banquet April 29th.
