Two Republican Legislators are considering running for Kansas Attorney General in 2022, including House Speaker Pro Tem, and Ottawa’s own, Blaine Finch. Finch says he is looking into the race and will make a decision after lawmakers finish business later this month. He says a lot of people have asked him to consider the race, even before Republican Kris Kobach announced his bid. Many consider Kobach too controversial. He has already lost the Governor’s Race and a bid for a Senate Seat.

Senate Judiciary Chair, Kellie Warren, is also considering a run. She says the GOP needs a winning, electable Republican and insists they have to keep the Seat in Republican hands.

Both Finch and Warren are attorneys. Finch has served in the House since 2013 and became its number three GOP Leader in 2019. Warren was elected to the House in 2018, then to the Senate in 2020.
