An Ottawa man with historical ties to an iconic local eatery and former member of the Ottawa Police and Fire Departments, has died. David Hood, affectionately known as “Boss Man” passed away last week. His father, C.D. Hood, opened Hood’s Dari Treat on North Main, back in the 1950’s. After C. D. retired, David owned and operated it for several years before shutting its doors in 1976.

From there, David went into public service, joining the Ottawa Police Department, becoming a Sargent. In the early 1980’s he shifted to the Ottawa Fire Department and became a Truck Driver Engineer and finally was promoted to Captain. He was a Franklin County Commissioner from 2006 to 2010. The Ottawa Fire Department paid tribute to him yesterday:

Service for Hood were held this morning.
