A woman with deep ties to religious education in the area is celebrating her Platinum Jubilee, 70 years of religious life. Sister Susanne Bauer is a native of Louisburg and was an educator for 42 years. She taught at Holy Angels School in Garnett from 1989-90. She also taught in Overland Park and in Osawatomie. She was Principal of Sacred Heart School in Ottawa from 1998-2001 and was a Teacher’s Aide at Holy Rosary School in Bucyrus from 2001 to 2009, where she also helped with the After-School Care program. In addition, she taught at Saint John School, Bartlesville, Oklahoma and was Principal there from 1976-89. After retiring to the Motherhouse in Maple Mount Kentucky in 2009, Sister Susanne cared for the Vestry Building until 2019.
