A conflict in Ottawa Zoning Regulations may have been resolved. The Ottawa Planning Commission recently was faced with a dilemma in which a developer wants to build a duplex in an R-1 Low Density Residential, which is allowed in current zoning rules; however, the developer later informed the City he wants to make it into an Attached Single-Family Dwelling and split the lot in the future. City Planner, Sarah Anzicek, told the Planning Commission, there are further problems:

The Planning Commission approved allowing Attached Single-Family Dwellings in the R-1 District and removing the minimum 1,200 square foot requirement and making other changes. The Community Development staff also plans to study possible regulations to control an excessive amount of on-street parking that could occur with the revised regulations.
