Franklin County Attorney, Brandon Jones, has filed a Criminal Complaint against Kansas Fifth District Representative, Mark Samsel. The Complaint charges Samsel with three Counts of Misdemeanor Battery for an incident that occurred at Wellsville High School on April 28th.
Samsel’s first appearance in Court is scheduled for Wednesday at 8:30 in the morning, in front of Franklin County District Court Magistrate Judge, Kevin Kimball. Due to ongoing COVID restrictions, the Hearing will be conducted via Zoom and will be streamed on the Court’s YouTube channel for the public to view. Misdemeanor Battery carries a penalty of up to six months in the County Jail and/or up to a $1,000 fine.
As with all Criminal Defendants, Samsel is presumed innocent until otherwise proved guilty and convicted in a Court of Law. The Franklin county Attorney’s Office says it has no other comments on the case at this time.
