A request for a sharp increase in Prairie Paws Funding by the City of Ottawa, may provoke some sticker shock among the Ottawa City Commission. Commissioners are starting a review of the 2022 Budget. Among the new Budget, is a request from the shelter for an increase from the current funding of about $57,000 to over $77,000 for the 2022 Fiscal Year. Ottawa Mayor, Sara Caylor, took issue with one statement by Prairie Paws Executive Director, Vanessa Cowie:
