As severe weather rolls through the area this morning, the residents of Vassar are without an outdoor warning siren. The siren at 229th and Croco Road failed in an Osage County Test Last Month and, as parts are not available for the 30 year old siren, it has to be replaced. That replacement has been ordered; however, officials say it will be eight to ten weeks before it is received and installed.

Until it is installed, Osage County Deputies and other emergency personnel will warn the Vassar area during tornado warnings, by using their vehicle sirens and public address systems.
