You may have noticed the water level in the Marais Des Cygnes River has remained fairly high the past several days, despite not a lot of rainfall. Some of this is due to the water level at Pomona Lake. Park Ranger, Erik Patterson, says they have increased the discharge rate to 3,000 cubic feet per second, as of yesterday afternoon, due to lake levels being elevated. The lake elevation is 992.8, about 18 feet above normal operating levels and officials want to keep the lake at, or near normal, to accommodate rain runoff from streams that enter the lake. They will continue to adjust the flow as the season goes on, dependent of the amount of rain the area gets.
