More information on a fire in Osawatomie Thursday night that heavily damaged a building housing a lawn mowing company, The Ground Guys. The Miami County Republic reports that the fire started in a vehicle that was in the building. Osawatomie Fire arrived on the scene at 8:46 Thursday night, where the car and garage were fully engulfed. The were able to prevent the flames from spreading to an adjacent warehouse.
They used a ladder truck to provide an elevated stream of water from the parking lot of Casey’s. This was able to suppress and cool the roof line of the warehouse. Osawatomie Fire Chief Brian Love says there were no injuries from the fire; however, the tenant was transported by Miami County Emergency Medical Services Ambulance to an area hospital for an unrelated medical issue. The vehicle and garage were a total loss. The warehouse north of the garage sustained smoke damage throughout, minimal water damage to storage items on the adjoining wall and no fire damage. The fire department was on the scene until 1:00 Friday morning.
