Severe thunderstorms that blew through the area yesterday afternoon caused a great deal of damage in Anderson and Osage Counties. A 90 mile per hour wind gust was recorded at Greeley at about 5:25. The roof at Saint boniface Hall at Scipio was completely removed from that structure. The storm also punched a hole in the roof of the Saint boniface Church.
Reports of downed trees and limbs and uprooted trees came in from all over Anderson County. A machine shop was damaged and a shed totally destroyed, about four miles north west of Lone Elm. There was a report of a stop sign that came loose and flew into the back of a privately owned Explorer parked at Beckman Motors in Garnett.
KOFO posted on its Facebook page, a request from Anderson County Emergency Management, asking residents to report damage in their area and to post pictures if possible. The thread is filled with pictures of damage scattered about all over the County. In Osage County, Pomona Lake Marina reported, via Facebook, severe storm damage to the store, docks and walkways, as well as damage to several boats, at about 4:21 in the afternoon.
