The storm clean up in Anderson County continues this morning. Anderson County Emergency Management Director, J. D. Mersman, says 99% of the power has been restored to the area, after Friday afternoon storms, with powerful winds, blew through the area tearing up power poles, taking down trees and causing damage to buildings in the area. He thanked power crews from Ottawa, Iola, Garnett, Gardner, EVERGY, Four Rivers and others for coming to the aid of Anderson County so quickly
Mersman said that the majority of the “spotty” power outages remaining were those who had the line ripped from their house or suffered damage to the box itself. Those repairs will need to be made by an electrical contractor.
Officials in the City of Garnett have asked residents to put tree limbs by the street and they will begin pickup as soon as possible. At this time, they are only wanting tree limb’s and not other storm debris. They will keep the public informed of other cleanups that may be happening in the near future.
