The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for Franklin, Anderson, Osage and Miami Counties in effect from 1:00 this afternoon until 7:00 this evening. A heat index of 105 is expected. The hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illness. If you are outside, be sure to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an airconditioned room if possible and please, do not leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle, under any circumstance. Limit strenuous activity to the morning hours or evening. Wear light, loose fitting clothing if working outside and take frequent breaks in the shade, or inside and be sure to know the signs and symptoms of heat exhauston and heat stroke. If you or someone you are with, is overcome by the heat, move to a cool and shaded location, and call 911. Remember heat stroke an an emergency.
