Fire crews from Anderson County responded to a structure fire yesterday morning at 9:30. Reports came in that a garage was on fire at 25625 Montana Road. The caller said the fire was extending to a travel trailer near by. Units first on scene reported heavy fire in the garage and a trailer with ammunition inside, going off due to the extreme heat.
Fire units quickly established an attack on the fire and incoming units helped supply water. The garage and trailer were a total loss in the fire and a Kansas State Fire Marshal Investigator was requested to the scene. Due to the extensive damage, no point of origin or cause could be determined, but there is no reason to consider foul play.
Unfortunately, three people lost all their belongings, including all their clothing, in the fire. Red Cross and Knights of Columbus Assistance Teams were notified to assist them, but they do have immediate needs. KOFO has posted a “Need List” for the three, on our Facebook Page.
