The University of Kansas enrollment numbers did not bounce back to pre-pandemic levels, but it also didn’t get much worse from a year ago. KU released their enrollment numbers yesterday morning.

The Kansas Board of Regents reported that KU’s full-time equivalent enrollment is 20,522 students at the Lawrence Campus and its Edwards Campus in Johnson County. That was down about 3/10 of a percent from 2020 Fall totals. It is a decline of about 3.6% from 2019, when enrollment hadn’t been impacted by the pandemic. The overall enrollment, regardless of how many credit hours they are taking, KU had 23,958 students enrolled. That’s down only six students from Fall of last year, but down 671 students from 2019.

KU did outperform other Regents’ schools as a whole. Overall, the State Universities: Kansas State, Pittsburg State, Emporia State, Wichita State and their associated schools, such as the KU Medical Center and K-State’s Veterinary College, posted a 2.4% decline in full-time equivalent students.
