AG Secretary Tom Vilsack was in Illinois Friday to announce that the USDA is going to start taking applications for loans and grants for rural broadband projects. The money will come from a Reconnect Fund of about a billion dollars. Vilsak says it’s going to take a lot more:
Congress is working on proposals to provide up to $65 billion dollars for the broadband projects, with a goal of getting 95% of the Country covered in the next three years.
