Garnett City Commissioners received their first look at applicants for the vacant City Manager position at their meeting Tuesday night. The first report comes five months after former City Manager Chris Weiner announced he was leaving Garnett. The candidates were pulled together using a firm from the Kansas League of Municipalities. The League Executive Administrative Position Search, or “LEAPS” say the applications were reviewed and ranked according to a Performance Matrix, before they were presented to the Commission. The City of Garnett paid that organization just over $2,000 for their service. LEAPS recommended a salary between $88,000 and $98,000 annually. Weiner earned $95,000 before he left for Monnet, Missouri, where he will have a salary of $125,000,

One of the applicants is Garnett City Clerk, Travis Wilson, who has been serving as Interim City Manager since Weiner left in August.
