Voters in the City of Osawatomie will have a lot to decide on. First, a half cent sales tax in today’s election that will go a long way in fixing and maintaining City streets. City officials say with a “yes” vote, the City will be able to better fund and perform critical street maintenance using the money generated each year by this dedicated street sales tax. A “no” vote would limit the City’s ability to take on what they consider critical street projects. The sale tax, if passed would be Levied for 10 years and be used exclusively for street repair.
Also in Osawatomie, Mayor Mark Govea and City Council Member, Nick Hampson, face each other for the Mayor’s position. Four seats are open for City Council, Position One matches Kenny Diem and Brant Johnson. Position two has Jon Michael Brand and Kirk Wright and Position three with Dale Bratton, Jeff Walman and Daniel West. Four School Board seats open in Osawatomie. Position One has Kristal Powell and Connie Hebert, Position Four with Kelly Daggett and Jeff Dorsett. Position Five…Richard Fisher, Heather, Hoage and Gordan Schrader. Position Six with Marsha Adams and Shay Hansk.
