The County’s Economic Development Agency hopes they encouraged people in town to open their own in-home childcare operations to help relieve a shortage in local childcare. The Anderson County Development Agency and the K-State Research and Extension hosted a meeting yesterday for those who might be interested in starting their own in-home childcare business. They gave firsthand information about how an in-home childcare business works. Anderson County Development Director Julie Turnipseed handed out information about how to start your own child care business.
The meeting was prompted by a survey conducted in July that found that one of the biggest obstacles stopping women from rejoining the work force was lack of child care. Turnipseed said the meeting provided a broad view of starting and running a private daycare and connected interested people with resources to help them along the way.
