The 35th Annual Toys for Kids Motorcycle Run was held Saturday afternoon. The event is a toy collection and fundraiser for ECKAN to help those families struggling to be able to get gifts for their children. With a smaller run last year, due to COVID restrictions on top of cold rainy conditions, organizers were hoping for a better turnout this year. They couldn’t have asked for better. A record number of motorcycles, 177 riders, plus several other vehicles, left the Eagles Club, paraded down Main Street with a police escort to Forest Park, where they met up with ECKAN officials waiting with a box truck. Now, that’s not the impressive thing. Normally they have one trailer filled with toys but not this year. For the first time ever, the run featured two trailers, heaping with toys and gifts for ECKAN.
One organizer, who asked to remain anonymous, says he has participated all 35 years and this year’s toy run is the biggest they have ever had and he hopes it sets a tone for remaining years. After loading the ECKAN truck to capacity, the group headed back to the Eagles for an auction to raise more money. We’ll get you a total on the amount raised as soon it becomes available
