The Osawatomie chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner was last week and the winner of the Osawatomie Citizen of the year is…
…Shealagh Wright. She says she was shocked, as there were a lot of people deserving of the Award. She says she could barely hear Chamber Board Member, Wes Duncan, as he introduced the Award and she suddenly became aware it was gong to her.
She and her husband have been able to buy and renovate 27 houses and build four more in the area the past few years to help provide more affordable housing, a dream of hers for many years. Wright says one of the greatest ways you can impact those around you is to have a passion for the work you do. She has been committed to making positive changes in the community for nearly 30 years. Wright also served as Executive Director of the Osawatomie Chamber of Commerce for five and a half years. Osawatomie Pride received the Chamber’s 2021 Volunteer Group of the Year Award at the dinner.
