Discussion on whether or not to remove the ban on pit bulls within the city limits of Ottawa will continue by City Commissioners. A new ordinance that removes the pit bull ordinance and places the breed under the vicious animal ordinance has been discussed by the Commission. There is concern among some Commissioners about removing the ordinance. Commissioner Mike Skidmore on his concern:

Ottawa Police Chief Adam Weingartner says a dog is considered vicious if it bites someone, whether it is a poodle or a pit bull. After citation, it’s up to the courts as to whether the dog is removed from the owner or not.
