If you are headed to work or school and rely on the K-68 Bypass Bridge, crossing the Marais Des Cygnes River to get to your destination, you know the bridge has been under construction for the past several months and restricted to one lane or completely closed at times. Well, no more! The bridge is now open to both east and west bound traffic. K-DOT construction crews finished their work yesterday and reopened the bridge to all traffic.

It’s been a long haul. Construction started over six months ago, in May, with one lane closed and drivers facing delays at the light on either side. Then came a week of complete closure, as K-DOT shifted focus to the other lane, and delays continued. A second week long closure rerouted traffic around the bridge. Yesterday afternoon the barricades came down and it reopened to thru-traffic in both directions.
