The Ottawa Police Department is reporting a string of auto burglaries along the west side of Ottawa, from Canterbury Court to the 19th and Ash area. They are asking for the public’s help in solving the crimes, asking people with security cameras to check footage and if anything suspicious turns up, call them so they can check it, in hopes if identifying a suspect. Ottawa Police Chief Adam Weingartner says don’t hesitate to call any time you see something that seems suspicious:
He also emphasized the importance of keeping vehicles locked and anything of value out of sight. A huge majority of vehicle burglaries are vehicles that are unlocked, many with the keys in them. Even if you have never had a problem before, don’t make it easier to become a victim of a crime of opportunity.
