The Kansas Highway Patrol has released its Thanksgiving Weekend Holiday Activity Report. The reporting period for the holiday ran from 4:00 Wednesday evening, November 24 through midnight on Sunday, November 28th.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reports they worked only one non-DUI-related fatal crash and had one non-DUI related fatality. Thanksgiving holiday DUI fatalities have dropped steadily since 2016.
Also this year, speeding citations went up, with over 1,400 given compared to only 1,000 last year. Also, seat belt citations and warnings were up quite a bit compared to last year. Law enforcement around the country really cracked down on seat belt safety during the Thanksgiving holiday period.
