Today marks the 80th Anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. President Franklin Roosevelt spoke to Congress the following day:
In the attack, over 4,400 U. S. Soldiers were either killed or wounded and nearly the entire United States Pacific Naval Fleet destroyed, with over 1,100 men going down with the USS Arizona alone. There are just two survivors from the attack that were on the Arizona. Louis Canter and Ken Potts, both 100 years old. They call each other every year to talk about it and both hope to attend the anniversary in Hawaii this year.
Today, remember, tell your children and grand children and if you see a veteran, stop and thank them for their service.
